چکیده

Abstract In this paper, we study single transceiver passive RFID networks by modeling the underlying physical system as a special cascade of a certain broadcast channel (BCC) and a multiple access channel (MAC), using a “nested codebook” structure in between. The particular application differentiates this communication setup from an ordinary cascade of a BCC and a MAC, and requires certain structures such as “nested codebooks”, impurity channels or additional power constraints. We investigate this problem both for discrete alphabets, where we characterize the achievable rate region, as well as for continuous alphabets with additive Gaussian noise, where we provide the capacity region. Hence, we establish the maximal achievable error free communication rates for this particular problem which constitutes the fundamental limit that is achievable by any TDMA based RFID protocol and the achievable rate region for any RFID protocol for the case of continuous alphabets under additive Gaussian noise.

Digital Low Power Base Band Processor for RFID Tags

A low power implementation of a secure EPC UHF passive digital base band processor will be designed for UWB transceiver on RFID for wireless application. To ensure the secure information transaction of the passive tag, traditionally the focus is on directly applying a low complexity encryption engine. The attackers could make use of known header to reveal the secret key. The proposed architectu...

Passive Tracking of Transceiver-Free Users with RFID

Providing location information while people move through a indoor environment is fundamental to smart environments. While many works address this problem, which is often referred to as tracking, the complex radio propagation and the need smart and unobtrusive localization system still represent challenges to current approaches. We investigate through simulations the applicability of tracking a ...

Passive active radio frequency identification tags

This paper describes the Passive Active RFID Tag (PART). The first innovation is an automated method to generate RFID tag controllers based on high-level descriptions of a customised set of RFID primitives. We are capable of targeting microprocessor-based or custom hardware-based controllers. The second innovation is a passive burst switch front-end to the active tag. This switch reduces power ...

A Frequency Diverse Gen2 RFID System with Isolated Continuous Wave Emitters

The “Gen2” specification for UHF passive RFID systems released by EPCglobal has become an intense research interest. A Gen2 tag derives its power from the RF wave emitted by a Gen2 RFID reader and responds its modulated backscatter signals to the reader. Due to the large propagation loss, the accessible range of a Gen2 tag is hence limited. Moreover, the readability of a Gen2 tag is often influ...
